Our Leep Community Drivers should make every effort to transport passengers and their wheelchairs.
If you are refused a ride and your wheelchair could be reasonably accommodated by our Leep Driver please contact our help desk, we will follow-up on why.
Leep Drivers who refuse transport of Riders who require wheelchair accommodation may be subject to suspension or deactivation of the Leep Driver Platform.
Leep Riders should notify our drivers, see How to Request a Ride by placing a note to the driver upon requesting a ride. Coordinate with Leep Drivers on a safe loading zone away from obstructing the flow of traffic.
Many passengers with wheelchairs don’t require assistance, always ask, “May I help you” and let our Leep Riders instruct you how to best help them.
Wheelchair Loading Tips:
Every device is different, load your passenger safety first, then ask the Rider for storage instructions. Most wheelchairs will fold and fit in your trunk or backseat, you may consider carrying some padding or a blanket for seat protection. For folding wheelchairs, they will usually fold easily once the seat cushion is removed; the Rider may want to hold the cushion please ask first. Ask the passenger for loading directions of a rigid frame wheelchair; the wheel of the chair may be easily removed by an eject button on the side, you may stow the frame in your trunk and the wheel that you removed may stow away either in the backseat or alongside the frame.
The wheelchair that doesn’t fit:
If after a reasonable effort is made to load the wheelchair and it is unable to be accommodated the Leep Driver is directed to cancel the ride make and Notify the Help Desk so that accommodations may be made for the Leep Rider in their region.
