OSHA Guidelines for Rideshare Drivers

OSHA Guidelines for Rideshare Drivers

The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration ("OSHA") has issued an alert listing safety tips to help reduce the risk of exposure to the coronavirus in the car service industry.  OSHA's alert included the following safety measures include:

•                     Allowing drivers to wear masks over their nose and mouth to prevent them from spreading the virus;

•                     Providing alcohol-based hand rubs containing at least 60-percent alcohol for both drivers and customers;

•                     Limiting the number of passengers transported at a single time and installing plexiglass partitions between driver and passenger compartments where possible;

•                     Routinely cleaning and disinfecting vehicle door handles and inside surfaces with Environmental Protection Agency-approved cleaning chemicals from List N or that have label claims against the coronavirus;

•                     Lowering vehicle windows to increase airflow; and

•                     Encouraging drivers to report any safety and health concerns.

Coronavirus and Flu Prevention:

As our community and the world continues to closely monitor the emergence of “Coronavirus” (COVID-19). First, we want to make sure Leep drivers maintain a safe workspace in their vehicles. We encourage you to adopt practices to protect your health and those of our Leep Community.

We ask of all of the Leep Drivers to cooperate in taking steps to reduce the transmission of infectious diseases.

We reminded all drivers of the following:

If you feel sick or have a respiratory illness, please STAY HOME, and keep away from others. If your symptoms worsen, then please contact a physician.

• Wash your hands frequently with warm, soapy water for at least 20 seconds.

• Cover your mouth with tissues whenever you sneeze, and discard used tissues in the trash.

• Avoid people who are sick with respiratory symptoms.

• Clean frequently touched surfaces.

Use temporary measures to modify your behavior:

• All Leep Drivers should have personal hand sanitizers for personal use.

• If you provide water to your passengers, please discontinue placing waters in the vehicle beverage holders to limit physical handling and material sharing between passengers. (Waters may still be in your ice chest and available upon request.)

• Using Clorox disinfectant wipes and latex gloves, wipe down all high contact areas such as armrest, doorknobs, and rear/front passenger seats. Drivers should complete proper disinfection after each trip.

If you have any questions, please address the Leep Help Desk for assistance.
